This Monte Sano Mountain engagement session was really special to me. My longtime friend, Alyssa, asked me to photograph her and her fiancé for their wedding website and I couldn’t have been more thrilled! While they were in town for Thanksgiving, we drove up to Monte Sano Mountain (on one of the coldest, blustery days) for some beautiful shots with the Appalachian foothills as the backdrop. Moving to Huntsville from Colorado, I definitely have an appreciation for the mountains…but Huntsville has different kinds of mountains. The foothills remind me of soft folk music, deciduous trees, and spending time with good people — whereas the Rockies exude something more dramatic. I’m all for being more casual…to me, the foothills feel like home!
For those of you that are interested in the actual documentation of this session, it was too dark to shoot @ 200 ISO, so I shot this entire session on Portra 800 @ 640 and pushed one stop. I love these creamy tones and the contrast!
Thank you for asking me to document this special time in your life, Alyssa! I cannot wait to stand by your side at the end of August!
